![]() (LEGAFI) -- BMW North America is recalling more than 32,000 vehicles from the 2008-2011 model years to fix a problem with overheating circuit boards that could cause a fire. The BMW recall covers BMW 5 Series, 5 Series Gran Turismo, 7 Series, and X5 and X6 sport utility vehicles. In a document filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the car maker said a circuit board for the electric auxiliary water pump in the recalled vehicles can overheat, leading to a fire in the engine compartment. The BMW recall affects a total of 32,084 vehicles, including BMW 5 Series, 5 Series Gran Turismo, 7 Series, and X5 and X6 sport utility vehicles. The models involved in the recall have 8- or 12-cylinder turbocharged engines. Under the BMW recall, car owners can take their affected vehicles to any BMW dealer for a free replacement of the auxiliary water pump. The recall is expected to begin this month. More information on the BMW recall can be obtained by calling BMW Customer Relations and Services at (800) 525-7417.
