![]() (LEGAFI) -- Chrysler has issued a recall of certain 2012 Chrysler and Dodge vehicles equipped with 3.6-liter engines due to defects that cause the engines to seize and fail, increasing the risk of crash. The Chrysler recall was issued after it was discovered that the 3.6-liter engines in certain 2012 models may experience connecting rod bearing failure due to debris inside the engine block. Connecting rod failure may lead to engine seizure, which can increase the risk of crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The Chrysler defective engine recall affects the following 2012 Model Year vehicles equipped with 3.6-liter engines: Chrysler Town & Country Chrysler 200 Dodge Charger Dodge Durango Dodge Grand Caravan Dodge Journey Jeep Grand Cherokee Chrysler says it will replace defective engines free of charge once the safety recall begins in October 2011.
