| Build-A-Bear Workshop Pins Recalled Over High Lead LevelsBy Matt O'Donnell
(LEGAFI) -- The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada have announced a recall of 28,700 lapel pins from the Build-A-Bear Workshop due to high levels of lead in the paint. The pins were sold at stores nationwide and online from July 2009 through October 2010.The Build-A-Bear Workshop recall was issued after it was discovered that the surface paint on its “Love.Hugs.Peace.” lapel pins contain excessive levels of lead that are higher than federal standards permit. The 1.5 inch lapel pin features graphics of a heart, bear head, and peace sign all positioned in front of a globe. The words "Love.Hugs.Peace." appear at the bottom of the pin. No injuries have been reported, but the CPSC and Health Canada advise all consumers to stop using the lapel pins involved in the Build-A-Bear Workshop recall and return the lapel pin to any Build-A-Bear Workshop store to receive a $5 store coupon. If it is not possible to return the pin to a store, you can contact the company for alternate instructions on receiving a refund. Consumers looking for more information about the Build-A-Bear Workshop recall can have their questions answered by calling Build-A-Bear Workshop toll-free at (866) 236-568 or by visiting the company’s website at www.buildabear.com.
