Lady Gaga's Former Assistant Sues for Overtime

By Sarah Pierce

Lady Gaga (LEGAFI) -- Pop sensation Lady Gaga has been named in an unpaid overtime lawsuit by her former assistant Jennifer O’Neill, who claims the singer’s touring company treated her like a slave to the singer during her 13 months of employment during Gaga’s Monster Ball World Tour in 2009 and 2010.

O’Neill alleges in the Lady Gage overtime lawsuit that Mermaid Touring Company made her a slave to Gaga during her days as an employee, and is demanding overtime pay for what she says are 7,168 extra hours of overtime she was not compensated for.

O’Neill claims the singer required her to constantly be on hand for "spontaneous, random matters in the middle of the night," be her personal alarm clock to keep Gaga on schedule, and ensure that towels would always be available after she had a shower. She reportedly earned $75,000 a year working for the singer, but claims in the lawsuit that she never had break time for meals or even sleep. O’Neill also had to constantly keep Gaga’s chosen outfits on hand and was required to serve Gaga in "stadiums, private jets, fine hotel suits, ferries, trains and tour buses," she claims in the overtime lawsuit.

O’Neill is asking for $380,000 in overtime for the thousands of extra hours she claims to have worked during her employment.

She did not name Gaga (real name Stefani Germanotta) as a defendant in the overtime lawsuit, but a spokesman for the singer said the lawsuit is “completely without merit.”
